How this works
How a place is earned
Each game has its own table of fifty places, ranked by your single best round rather than by a total. Playing more rounds does not move you up; playing one better round does.
That choice is deliberate. Ranking by cumulative score rewards whoever has the most spare time, and a table led by endurance is not measuring the thing this site is about. A table led by a best round is at least measuring judgement, and it stays winnable by someone who arrived today.
Where two players have the same best score, the one who needed fewer rounds to reach it is placed higher.
When it updates
The table is rebuilt from the recorded rounds every hour on a schedule, and also rebuilt on demand if it is ever read while more than an hour old — so it is never a stale page, even after a quiet night.
This means a round you have just finished will not appear immediately. Your own best score is shown beneath the table as soon as it is recorded, including when it is outside the top fifty, so you can see where you stand before the next rebuild arrives.
What keeps it honest
A public table is worth nothing if it can be manufactured, so several things have to be true before a round can rank.
- The round has to belong to a signed-in account. Rounds played anonymously are still recorded and still counted in the percentile figures, but they have nobody to rank.
- The score has to be possible. Every game has a maximum its own scoring rules can produce, and a submission above it is refused outright rather than quietly stored.
- The round has to have taken a plausible amount of time. One finished faster than a person could play it is kept but flagged, and flagged rounds are excluded from the table and from the percentiles everyone else sees.
- Submissions are rate limited per player and per address, so no single person can flood the table.
- The answer count has to be consistent — more correct answers than questions, or more answers than a round contains, is refused.
The name shown
The table shows the display name on your account and nothing else. No email address, no location and no identifier appears, and the name is yours to change on the account page at any time. Changing it updates the table as well, so an old name does not linger there.
Questions people ask
I just played a great round. Where is it?
Waiting for the next rebuild, which runs hourly. If you were signed in when you played, your best score appears under the table straight away even before it ranks.
Why do my anonymous rounds not count?
Because a table needs somebody to rank, and an anonymous round has no account attached. Signing in attaches the rounds already played on that device to your new account, so earlier play is not lost — it is claimed.
Can I be removed from the leaderboard?
Yes. Deleting your account removes your entries from the table and unlinks your rounds, and there is a delete option on the account page that does it immediately rather than by request.
Why is the board quiet on some games?
Because only signed-in rounds rank, and the site is young. A game with few entries is genuinely winnable with one good round, which is rather the point of ranking by best round rather than by total.
